How review moderation works

Why reviews are moderated

Reviews on Tested.gg can be moderated before or after they appear. This keeps the platform useful for people making real-money decisions. Fake, spammy, or abusive reviews undermine trust for everyone.

Limits applied when you submit

A few automatic guardrails apply to every submission:

Limit What it does
Minimum length Reviews must be at least 50 characters, so they carry real detail
One review per site You hold one review per site; update it instead of posting again
Rate limit Up to 3 reviews per day per account, which blocks bulk submissions

These are simple, automatic limits - not an attempt to judge the content of your review.

New user moderation queue

If your account is at the New trust level, every review you submit enters a manual moderation queue. A moderator reads the review and either approves or rejects it. This step exists because new accounts are the most common source of fake or incentivized reviews.

You become eligible for Regular trust level once you have 3 or more approved reviews and your account is at least 7 days old.

Regular and trusted auto-approval

At Regular trust level, your reviews publish immediately, without waiting in the manual queue.

Trusted trust level works the same way and adds a Trusted Reviewer badge to your profile. Trusted status reflects a strong track record - 10 or more approved reviews and 50 or more helpful votes from other users. Trust level changes how quickly your review is published, not how much it moves a site's score.

What happens when a review is flagged

A reported or flagged review can be placed on hold while a moderator examines it. The moderator makes one of three decisions:

  • Approve - the review goes live.
  • Request edit - you are asked to revise the review. Once updated, it re-enters the queue.
  • Reject - the review is removed. You receive a reason for the rejection.

Repeated rejections may result in your account being restricted from submitting further reviews.

Reporting a review

Reviews that look fake, abusive, or irrelevant can be reported through the review card. Reports go to our moderators for a human review.
